To secure a new patient appointment, text (or call):
Via text, we will walk you through the steps to getting set up as a new patient.
These steps include downloading a free HIPPA compliant app for communicating with our doctor and staff as well as filling out intake forms. Intake forms must be filled out prior to securing an appointment time!
New patient appointments are M-F with Dr. Housholder. Once you are an established patient, you can self book through our website for future infusions.
If downloading the app or filling out intake forms online are barriers for you, please call us and we will assist! 205-772-9595.
For pregnant patients with nausea and vomiting:
If you are suffering, we ask that you to fill out a HELP score (hyperemesis severity score). Text us your score. We can usually get patients in very quickly!
Preconception Appointments for HG:
You do not have to be pregnant to book a new patient appointment! Let us know that you’re seeking a preconception appointment and Dr Housholder will walk you through a medication plan for a future HG pregnancy.
Financial Assistance:
The HG Relief Project is our nonprofit dedicated to helping our HG patients with copays, cost of care, cost of medicines, deductibles and coinsurance. Visit The HG Relief Project page to apply and learn more.
Infusion Add-Ons
We are now offering IV vitamin infusion add-ons in clinic! These IV vitamins are specifically recommended for HG patients by the HER Foundation and Dr. Housholder. Dr. Housholder also has a infusion blend specifically for patients struggling with anemia.
Illness Policy
It can be devastating for our HG patients to contract contagious illnesses such as flu, covid or the stomach bug. Therefore, if you’ve had fever, chills, cold symptoms or viral stomach bug symptoms, please refrain from making an appointment in our clinic until your contagious symptoms pass. HG symptoms are relentless and last for weeks and months. If you’ve only been throwing up a day or two, you likely have the stomach bug.

If you are needing an iron infusion:
Make sure your provider faxes over your iron labs to us at (205) 549-8711.
We will need your lab results in order to work with your insurance. You may also be able to login to your provider’s portal and screenshoot your lab results for us! If you need labs drawn, you can have this done at our clinic. FYI, it can take up to a week or more to get iron infusions approved through insurance.

Clinic Hours:
New patient appointments are M-F. We are open for infusions 6 days a week with extended hours on Wednesday evening. Closed Sunday and major holidays.
Insurance:
We are in network with most major insurers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, United, Multiplan, and Medicaid of Alabama insurances.
We only take BCBS and Medicaid for iron infusions. We are not a provider in BCBS’s High Performance Plan. If you don’t see your insurance listed, please call us.

We are able to telehealth anyone in the state of Alabama, just text us and follow the instructions above for new patients! Outside AL? Text or call us for info and resources. Dr. Housholder offers out of state consultations! We are unable to bill insurance for out of state consults.
